Boys have a ----- and girls have a ------!
And the verdict is.....BOY!!!
I apologize in advance for the bad ultrasound shot. I left all the clear ones with my mom and my scanner isn't hooked up so this is a picture of a blurry ultrasound. Its very hard to take a clear picture of those glossy things.
Soooo, what you are looking at is a butt shot of the baby. It's like we are underneath him, looking up. The mass on the right is his bum, then you have legs and then feet. The doctor has the arrow pointing to his little baby wenis. She is pretty darn sure we are looking at a boy.
I can't say that I'm surprised at all. From that very first day when I went back to Target to buy something for B it just seemed right to be looking at boy stuff. B was pretty shocked. Actually, he was unusually quiet at the doctors appointment and the rest of the day.
We had a great ultrasound with a lot of great shots. The baby was moving his arms and legs... it was really incredible.
Did you know that at 14 weeks they can smile? Not on purpose of course... but I'll tell you more about that later.
Everything seems so much more real now that the little one looks more like a baby and less like an amoeba. We can call the baby him instead of just peanut, although I have a feeling peanut will stick. AND I can start planning the nursery :)
In the doctor's office B made the comment that he assumed we'd be having another one to try for that girl :) So I may not be buying pink tutu's (unless one of you has a baby girl...) but I am very, very excited! This insures that B's last name will continue which makes daddy very proud. The more I think about it the more excited I get!
Quick... someone teach me about boy stuff!

So cute! And congratulations of course!
ReplyDeleteI'm still making him a kitty-ear hat though. He'll be able to wear it until he's at *least* 2.
How exciting! A boy!!! Boys I know about. They are fun, and pretty darned easy for the most part. Until those teenager years, but you have a while to prepare for that :) Thanks for sharing. I can never figure out those ultrasound pics, so I'm glad that you helped us out here ;) Again... congrats!!! -Tammy
ReplyDeleteSweeeet!! : ) Boys? Laid back, easy going and full of love. That's what I know about boys. : ) Although mine turns 11 in a month and I've been seeing snippets of a teenager lurking inside. I may need to update that description in five years. Congrats! Boys are fun!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rural Revival, Laid back, easy going and full of fun. It gets a bit choppy in the teen years but not bad. My son is an incredibly sweet fun young man! Congrats!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always heard that boys are soooo affectionate. They love their mommas and are just fun to watch in anything they do. You'll be great with a boy. That adventurous spirit in you will be a great fit. Congrats sweetie. Now you have plenty of time to think of a name...other than peanut.
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a cute lil peanut he is!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know boys but I have a feeling that B is going to be loving that he and his boy can go off and have fun while giving mommy some "me time".
I'm so happy for you both!
BOY!!!!!!!!!!! Oh you lucky thing - there is nothing sweeter than little boys!! Absolutely fabulous! I really do love being a mum to boys.
ReplyDeleteGirls are nice too, though... at least ours better had be!
YAY!!!!! Congratulations!!!! See, I told you I stink at gender guessing! Boys are lots of fun, indeed. And they looooove their Momma's! Their clothing isn't near as fun to buy as it is for girls, but I wouldn't trade mine for nothin' :)
ReplyDeleteHurrah!!!! I have absolutely know idea what to do with boys. But I understand they are fun. I only know sons-in-law (and future sons-in-law). Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! So happy for you! OX
ReplyDeleteI have two grandsons so I can tell you always be ready to throw something over their wenis while diapering because they will pee right in your face. CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats!!! You will be an amazing mother. All I will tell you is the love a mother has for her son is indescribable. Don't get me wrong the love a mother has towards her daughters are amazing too, but a love for a son is just different. Not better, just different. PS - I found pampers worked better for me with boys. :)
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, a BOY!! all I can say is BOYS love their mommas to pieces...and they for the most part are a wee bit easier then girls! I am so excited for you!!! yipee, now get that nursery together so we can see it!
ReplyDeleteBOY was my first call!!! Whoohoo!! You know what? Boys are so much easier than girls. You are going to be a great boy's mama!! I'm so happy!!
ReplyDeleteWhen was your due date again?
Yippee! The Jan name will live on - whew! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I can give you the advice you need on the boys, I only had two girls and always hoped for a boy. But my baby days are over for good, no plumbing anymore but there are benefits there too now!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Do you and B have any names yet?
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! A BOY!!! That's so awesome! I'm so excited for you! I tell ya, there is just *something* about boys. Here's the title of your next post "Names We Are Considering". :o)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! Oh, and I can't wait to see the father son feet pictures in those adorable shoes!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's fun to know, I think.
ReplyDeleteBoys=cars and/or balls. (I mean the kind you bounce and throw)
Congrats! Having a baby boy is pretty fun so far, other than the unexpected showers when you're changing diapers =o)
ReplyDeleteAs a newcomer to your blog, it feels strange to be commenting on such personal things, but congratulations:-) I think it is all part of the "Grand Design" that it takes so long for the baby to grow, because it takes just about that long for the parents to mentally adjust to the idea of being parents. So, the two walk hand in hand. How awesome is that???
ReplyDeleteYea! So fun! I'll be looking for cute blue things now.
ReplyDeleteYay!! Boy/girl, it really doesn't matter, although look at it this way... when you have your little girl next, she's going to have a sweet older brother! (Psst, boys are a lot easier...especially when potty training. You just have to have a bottle with you in the car. Also, when he needs to go when you guys are out, B can always take him instead of you!)
ReplyDeleteyay! Congrats Dawn! I'm having a boy too! We'll for sure have to get together! How far along are you now? I'm 21 1/2 weeks! I'm so very happy for you ... big sis! ;)
ReplyDeleteYaaay! You get to a be a boy Mom!!! It is so much fun and the best part is having a Mama's Boy, woot! What fun. We didn't have a clear picture on our ultrasound when we found out our firstborn was a boy and dear hubs was needing visual proof it was hilarious as the ultrasound tech said "I guarantee you the stem isn't going to fall off the apple!" Now if baby number 3 would just debut, I'm dying to meet him or her and soon, my tummy is running out of room.
ReplyDeleteBabies! I love babies! Boy Babies. Girl Babies. God bless 'em all! (P.S. I'm soooo happy for you guys.)
ReplyDeleteBy "guys", I mean you and Mr. B. Perhaps it is a Midwestern thing to call women "guys". lol
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! How exciting! Boys are precious little ones :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww that's so cool! I really want a boy first and then a girl second. That way she has a big brother to protect her and look up to. :-) Yayyy congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I was guessing you'd have a boy. They're a lot of fun (and sweet too!)
ReplyDelete☺ Celeste
Oh, Congrats! Although, I am TERRIBLY jealous! I just had my 17 week check-up (no ultrasound with this one) and BEGGED the doctor to let us sneak a peak at the baby, but she said "no". We have a 4d ultrasound scheduled on June 3rd, so we'll have to wait until then to find out the sex. The suspense is driving me bonkers!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the extra month of planning! I feel like I'm waiting for the starters pistol to go off before I can start really thinking of stuff to buy and plan and register for. Woe is me.
But congrats, none the less. You are one lucky Mama! :-)
I was secretly hoping for a boy:)
ReplyDeleteI have a son and I think they are great!
Congrats to you and B!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had 2 boys ... so I guess I'm partial, but I love boys! They are go go go ad then they stop and do something that melts your heart.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers ...
Oh, boy, oh BOY! I have two boys (and our youngest is a girl). Boys are so awesome! You're going to have so much fun!
