Mish Mosh

Today I am again ignoring my waiting pictures. We're having a mish mosh posting day!

So, I came across this blog that I just know you will love. Its called Laughing in the Wind. You may have seen Alayna as a commenter. She has 3 kids and the stories she tells about them have this total honesty I find addictive. You HAVE to read her post about having the sex talk, it cracks me up everytime I read it.

I had a great Happy 1st Day of October post planned... with a giveaway but I lost daylight and couldn't take the pictures. Look for a giveaway tomorrow!

Two of my favorite ladies are also doing giveaways right now!
Elle Bee at Kitchen with Kids is giving away a fantastic book and bath set if you can guess the date her little girl will start walking.

Yelena at June Daisies is celebrating her 100th post by giving away one of her gorgeous prints. Also, please convince her to start an etsy store and sell some of them ;)

This video has nothing to do with any of this... but I found it and I love it. If you haven't been subjected to my New Zealand ranting yet.. just you wait. We are honeymooning there in January! It will be a different season but just as majestic I am sure.

Honest_Scrap_Award

Last but not least, Sasha from Lemonade Makin' Mama and Becky from Farmgirl Paints awarded me with the Honest Scrap award. I have to tell you 10 honest things... Sasha was specific about not being a liar.

Here goes:
- I am terrified of scary children in movies. You know... The Ring, Watcher in the Woods, Children of the Corn, The Shining, etc.
- I rarely cook dinner. B cooks 99% of the time. But I did make that Tomato Pie!
- I was on my first diet when I was 3 months old. My mom was told to water down my formula. It was all down hill from there :)
- I am a chronic list maker. Do not confuse this with being a chronic task-completer. I'm just talking about the making of the list... not actually completing it.
- I have a sewing machine in my closet that was a present from my mom 9 years ago and I haven't used it in 5 or 6 years. Why? I can't remember how to thread the bobbin. Yes, I know I can google. I'll put that on my list.
- I have a box full of decorating ideas and inspiration for my future house.
- I really enjoy using a chocolate bar as an edible spoon for eating peanut butter out of the jar. If I don't have a chocolate bar I'll just throw some chocolate chips straight into the jar and use a spoon.
- I still have not learned to use the manual settings on my camera... or learned to edit my photos.
- I can sing every song from Meet Me in St. Louis... in fact i think I'll watch it right now.

Riveting information, I'm know! Now I'll pass this on to 9 bloggers who I find wonderful and supportive and creative and fantastic (if you would like to participate... no pressure):

Rural Revival
Traveling Longhorns

Stop Her She's Knitting
Wanna Walk Along?
Crumbs...
Over the Backyard Fence
Make Everything Right
Heart 2 Heart
Easy Street

Look for the giveaway tomorrow and more on San Francisco after that!

  6. Thanks for the compliment! I have to say, just reading the "sex talk" in your blog made my heart rate race all over again! And, it's funny that the thing I was most excited about from your post was the chocolate and peanut butter, and it turns out, I'm not the only one! I think I'm headed to the kitchen right now. But before I go, I have to tell you that I used to be the same way about my sewing machine - I dreaded using it because I wouldn't know what to do with that bobbin. I had to call my mom every time. Good news - they make pre-threaded bobbins that are very cheap. I actually know how to thread bobbins now, but I still buy those, and I love to sew now!

  8. The ring is the ultimate scary movie. My husband and I went to see it and when we got home there was a static message on our answering machine. I made him turn the tv in our bedroom towards the wall that night.

  9. Dandy, I adore your sense of humor....love that you use a chocolate bar for a spoon...my hubby would sit right next to you and dump choclate chips in the peanut butter too! great post...happy 1st day of October!

  10. Thanks for the tag, Dandy! I'd love to play along. My poison is pb on the spoon with a squirt of Hershey's syrup. The chocolate chips sound a lot less messy! Thanks for the tip:)

  11. Two facts about myself. First, I grew up in the small Iowa town where Children of the Corn was filmed. And secondly, I have never seen the movie. lol

  12. Wonderful, supportive, creative AND fantastic. I am not sure I can take so many positives. And you have saved my bacon (yum did someone say BACON!) because I was sitting here in front of the computer just racking my miniscule brain for something to write about and now I have something.

And may I say that using a chocolate bar as a spoon in the peanut butter is absolutely inspired. I am off to explore the idea.

  13. My hubby does the same thing--scoops PB out, then presses it into a handful of chocolate chips! :o)
YAY! THanks for plugging my giveaway! Still lots of dates open and the little munchkin is still wobblin' around.
Can't wait for SF and giveaway posts!

  14. Congratulations for your beautiful award. Your blogs are always simple and honest and warm, just like you. I love that you are a chronic list maker not a doer! It does count.

My favorite that you add chocolate chips to your peanut butter, why didn't I think of that when no chocolate is around?

  18. Several mish mosh points, my dear ...
    1. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone, but my favorite way to eat peanut butter is throwing chocolate chips into the jar and dipping a spoon into the jar.
    2. How old am I? (Oh no ... We better not go there!) Well, I'm pretty old ... and I NEVER knew that New Zealand had such beautiful mountains! OMG! You are going to have a most wonderful time!
    3. "As he started to leave, I grabbed hold of his sleeve with my hand. And as if it were planned, he stayed on with me, and it was grand just to stand with his hand holding mine ... to the end of the line!"
