Take me out to the ball game

P4030484

Just before official baseball season started we were invited by our friend Aya to see a Dodgers vs. Angels game and we jumped at the opportunity.

P4030483

I'd never been to Dodger Stadium before. Actually I only recall going to one baseball game when I was little and I'm pretty sure it was at Angel Stadium.

This time we watched in style from one of the private suites. If it's too hot in the shaded area outside and the padded office style chairs are not quite comfy enough you can always sit inside. There are nice couches, air conditioning and of course, several TV's. TV's are necessary if you don't want to strain your neck by looking out the window.

First on my list of priorities was purchasing a Dodger dog. They are known for the Dodger dogs!

You didn't think this post would actually be about baseball, did you?
I admit that I don't follow sports and B had to explain to me what was going on most of the time. Also, I had no idea how long a baseball game would last. No idea.

B is very patient.

Me: Um... B... when is half time?
B: There is no half time. There's a 7th inning stretch.
Me: That's not even half way thru. That's at the end of the game. Is there an intermission?

I know. It's embarassing.

What do you need to eat with Dodger dogs? Garlic fries!

I will admit that seeing any sport live is pretty exciting and we had a ton of fun at the game.

But since we are being honest here, this was the highlight for me:

The dessert cart! They bring a dessert cart by.

We had no idea and had just eaten a lemon ice and a chocolate malt. I was a little heart broken but the desserts looked amazing! I mean they even have Baileys and Amaretto!

I think Aya was on to something with that chocolate cake.... look how dark it is.

I mean, this really exceeds peanuts and cracker jacks, no?

Are you a baseball fan?

  1. Oh don't be ashamed for not knowing how long a baseball game is. I didn't know it either... ;-)
    Happy Tuesday!

  2. It's a long game - lord help ya if they go into extra innings. I love going to home games - even if I don't really know quite what's going on all the time, the traditions of the game (the wave, the charge rally cry, etc etc) are fun, the food is always awesome even when it's awesomely bad, and of course if you're from the north side of Chicago...

When the Cubs win, it's like getting named queen of the prom, winning a new car and having Dick McMahon show up at your house with the big check all at once.

Well I guess that last part would be sort of creepy now. Scratch that. :)

  3. NOT a baseball fan. But going to an actual game like that and sitting where you did...eating what you did sounds delightful:) I'm just going to live vicariously through you okay??

  4. I LOVE baseball. You know me, I play softball, so I think baseball is pretty cool. I just visited Raley Feild (for the Sac. Rivercats)in Sacramento and it was so fun. But we had the seats in the 6th row, and my dad and I, well, I was miserable in that hot sun. We moved to the shade. I felt WAY better after that...

  5. Now that's how you watch a baseball game.

    Can I come next time?

  6. We're big time baseball fans at our house. The Rockies are the home team, but we also follow the Mets. I have to laugh at your question about half time. Reminds me of my niece who went to her first baseball game not long ago and was bored out of her mind. She told my brother, "They don't even have shows!" (like half time shows at football games and at basketball games.)

  7. I don't have any interest in sports at all, but always accept an invitation to any game live. Here it's the Buzz (Chicago Fire Dogs) and the Jazz (Chicago Fire Dogs). Hmmm, I sense a pattern here. The only reason I go to the games live is because both stadiums have amazing Chicago Fire Dogs! Give me a dog and beer and I don't care what's going on in the arena or on the field....

  8. Oh, I have to admit that I think baseball is the most perfect of sports. That may be because HHBL plays. It looks like you had a blast. What better way to spend a summer day.

  9. I'm not a baseball fan. Even though I live in the state with two major teams . . go Cardinals . . .go Royals. However with a dessert tray like that I might just become one!

  10. I'm not into baseball at all, but good food and/or good company can make almost anything fun and it sounds like you had both!

  11. Wow!! I've never seen a baseball game from the private suites. That must have been amazing!! I'm like you--I don't really follow sports, but I love going to games--the excitement is contagious! And if I just pick a team and pretend to be really invested in the outcome, it gets even more fun. :o) The food....oh boy, that dog looked soooo yummy!!!

  13. We went to a baseball game a few years ago and I never knew what to watch! I missed all the plays because I was distracted by shiny lights or something, I have no idea.

  14. I am not a baseball fan at all. I would have asked about half time too. The food would be the hilite of the game for me too....

  15. That looks like fun! I am a fan of watching sports live, but I definitely don't follow them otherwise. I love going to the Giants games and I've sat at the club level (they have better bathrooms, no lines!). That dessert cart looks tasty!

  16. I was just dropping in to wish you and B and babyt the happiest Independence Day. May your day be full! May you enjoy laughter shared with family, great food shared with friends, fireworks to make you gasp, a lump in your throat at the anthem, and a full and grateful heart at all we have been given. Happy Fourth of July, my friend!

  17. Niiiiiiiiice! I love baseball especially the Yankees and any team my boys are playing on.

I'm kinda like that with football. Devon's been playing for three years and I'm just finally getting the hang of things.

Just you wait until Peanut is playing. :)Nothing like see your baby out there playing hard and competing!
