Heavy Hearts and Helping Hands

IMG_9177bw

There is a lot going on in the world these days and its not all happiness and honeymoons.

There is the devastation that is Haiti. Every story more heartbreaking than the last. I know you are aware of all the charities out there raising money to help. I know so many of you are already helping thru contributions and prayers.

I've been hearing about this shop in the wonderful land of Etsy. Its called Hearts for Haiti and is made up of good donated by Etsians to be sold to help Haiti. 100% of money, minus paypal and etsy fees, will be going to Doctors Without Borders.

If you are doing a bit of Valentines shopping the theme right now is hearts. If not there are many other goods to be coveted.

As I was reading Tara's blog and found there is someone else to help a little closer to home. We all know how tight knit this blog land of ours can be.

Gina of Feather Your Nest suddenly and unexpectedly lost her husband a few weeks ago. She is closing down her shop and has discounted her items. Hopefully the purchase of some items will help her care for their two children while she finds her footing.

Feather Your Nest is a vintage inspired home accessories store and I love what she offers. Also, you can stop by her blog and let her know you are thinking of her.

Finally, Tracey of French Larkspur is doing a giveaway of some of Gina's things so head on over and enter.

Thanks friends!

  1. It is hard not to be discouraged by all of the heartache we see. The one positive thing that does touch my heart is to see just how so many people care ... from the massive rescue efforts in Haiti to the kind thoughts and efforts in response to Gina's personal tragedy. On this the 81st birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., his dream continues to become a reality ...

  2. It just breaks your heart... (Her blog link is closed I think right now by the way- when I clicked your link it didn't work.) I heard about it yesterday and kept just thinking about it all night. Life is so fragile. We have to embrace every little moment of it while we have it.

    Blessings sweet friend,

  6. So sad. I've been to her store and made a purchase. Just wish I would have known about her prior to her closing it. We have so much to be grateful for.
