Taking down Christmas

IMG_9057

Every year I drag my feet when it comes to letting go of the holiday season.

I hate taking down Christmas.

For as long as I can remember I've been resistant to letting it go.

I love the sparkle of a lit Christmas tree.

I know a lot of people are ready to move on the minute Christmas day has passed but I've always felt a little sad to see it go.

I love the warm and cozy feeling of the twinkling lights. Maybe it's because I feel like winter is over in Southern California the minute Christmas ends. I still want to drink spiced cider and watch cheery Christmas movies.

I love that people all get together for their various holiday traditions.

I love that there are so many gatherings and so many things to do and sooo many people looking forward to doing them.

Mostly I love the magic of Christmas. It's magical in a way I can't really explain.

I'm really looking forward to this year and all it will bring but this week it'll just seem a little bare around here.

This year my routine will be different because I just don't have a routine to go back to. Before the holidays I didn't have a Peanut and now I do. So I suppose we'll be establishing our own routine without all the hustle and bustle.

This should be interesting :)

  2. I feel the same way, it makes me sad to take down the tree and put everything away. I left some white lights on our mantle and a small tree with white lights, just to warm up the room. It will be cold here for another few months.

I love your photos of the lights, and of course Peanut:) He's just the most beautiful baby.

  3. Peanut looks just like his Daddy! (Loved the birth announcement, btw! It was gorgeous!) I took my Christmas stuff down the day after. I'm one of those that can't wait to get the tree out of my living room so I can put other stuff in its place. Ha!

  4. I always wait until New Year's day to take down Christmas. Start the year off fresh. I really miss my tree and the smell of it, and the little twinkle lights. The room feels so empty! I haven't taken down the outdoor lights yet, I just can't bring myself to do it.
