Laguna with the kids
Weeeeeeee!
First off you can thank B for all the beach pictures because a) I can't be trusted with my camera on this beach while being pregnant b) I can't take multi-task well enough yet to watch kids and take pictures.
This was the first day and as soon as we got to the beach (after 30 min of looking for parking) they headed straight into the water.
They sat on the rocks and climbed around and looked for anemones and crabs.
That picture is not included here because it happened to include me in it. Me in a bikini and a very unflattering camera view of my oddly shaped body. It must have been the camera view because I'm sure I don't acutallly look chubby. Not me. Not 7 months pregnant.
Both of them completely exhausted themselves carrying heavy buckets of water up to our sand projects.
Jordyn was in charge and the design and Alex the designated water carrier. All this splashing and digging and climbing and exploring and water carrying made for some very hungry beach-goers so we sat for lunch.
This picture was taken from the apartment when I was packing their lunch. You see, earlier that day we had gone to the store and let them pick out some things to eat during the weekend.
I asked them to pick some lunch meat for sandwiches. Jordyn picked Turkey Bologna and Alex picked Liverwurst.
Liverwurst.
They love liverwurst. Are they not sooooo related to B?!
I was really impressed with these the catch these two spear fisherman made! I mean, it's no liverwurst but it's pretty darn interesting.
Afterwards they went back to the sand projects.
Digging holes. Who knew this could keep people young and old occupied for hours on end.
When we got home after 5 hours at the beach we started to prep dinner. These are the veggies that are going into the salsa. Mmmmm, tomatillo.
Here B is showing the kids how to slice and peel the avocado. Jordyn was a great help and was B's sous chef for the weekend.
We sat down to a dinner of carnitas tacos, fresh made salsa, veggies, beans and all the fixin's. They absolutely loved it. These kids will eat anything... and eat it with vigor. It's incredibly gratifying to see them on second helpings and to hear their oohs and aaahs.
Have you had a day in the sun lately?

Looks like you all had an amazing time! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, that water looks amazing. As does your food. Women who are 7 months pregnant are NOT chubby. Ahem. Cough. NO. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf I'm in the sun for more than .2 second it's saps me of all energy. It's been 105 plus around these parts here lately. No sun fun. Just laying underneath the fan with the a/c going 24/7.
how fun, love the water there...you said "pee the avacado" heeeee....we need belly pics!!!
ReplyDeleteWEll that's refreshing...kids that will eat anything. I need to send my youngest to your house for a while. See if you can work some magic.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you yanked that bikini pic out. I would have loved to have seen that:)
Mmmmm liversausage. :) I know it's so wrong, SO wrong (never read the nutritional info, trust me), but I think that's my favorite sandwich in the world. Oscar Meyer's liversausage on toast with butter.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for fresh salsa!
Figures I fixated on the food.
(PS - Look! They fixed the comments thingie!)
What a fun day!!! Liverwurst??? Not sure about that choice but to each his own. Now the dinner looked and sounded incredible.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. Enjoy!
Ahhh. I love liverwurst! It's the only processed meat I really care for, go figure. Must be my German grandfather coming out in me. I took my little two year old grandson to Florida a while back and it was his first visit to the ocean. I don't know who had more fun, him or me watching him...
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMy mom gave us liverwurst a couple times when we were young. What is it even? Do I wanna know? I'm scared.
I so wish you had included the pic of you! I bet it's super cute!
Hey, that leafy candle thing on your dining room wall is so pretty! I love it!
I loved Liverwurst when I was a kid. I think I may just get some for this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you looked super cute in your bikini too. When I was preggo with my Ryder I sported the bikini look too ;) I refuse to get one of those "mom" maternity dress lookin swim suits. I was the only mommy in my daughter's swim class last month wearing a VS bikini LOL
Dawn,
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a fun way to relax, a day at the beach followed by homemade tacos and salsa! A day in the life right???
Wanted to wish you a great weekend!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
LiverWORST???? Really???
ReplyDeleteHa, ok these kids have a more sophisticated palette than I do! I've never even tried it. That looks like so much fun! We're headed to Carmel this weekend for beach fun, but I'm afraid the sun may hide from us. It's been COLD in Northern California!!
ReplyDeleteLiverwurst? They are related to him!
