Oddly enough B and I both had our cameras with us. He really only took a handful of pictures, I took about 30. This is why you hire professional photographers.
Here we are during our wedding party photos! I promise there are more to come! I had several different looks for the night. For the ceremony I did the traditional veil with the strapless dress and simple jewelry. For the reception I added a halter strap, a large broach and birdcage veil.
The attire was perfect, well almost perfect. I really encourage brides to walk around in their dresses before the ceremony. I had been walking around in mine all day... only we were outside so I was carrying my dress like you see above.
Until I started to walk down the aisle. You know, with all those people staring at you. All those people watching you. It was then that I realized that although my dress was the right length.... my slip/petticoat was a bit too long. I kept stepping on it. I kept stepping and halting. I was tripping over myself. Repeatedly. Tripping over my own dress in front of all our friends and family. Oh and people noticed. But not one person pointed and laughed. They just couldn't figure out what I was tripping on. It just wasn't the dignified and inspirational walk I had imagined.
But not to worry because I really couldn't see anyones reaction.... because my fake eyelashes were stuck to the blusher. Another note for those of you asian brides out there. The asians without a nose that protrudes enough to keep your veil off your eyelashes. Try wearing your veil around to make sure you can do things like blink...or see your groom.
I finally looked up and saw Matty (a friend of mine) say "Smile!" and I realized I must have a hazy, slightly alarmed look on my face. So I smiled, switched my bouquet into my other hand and picked up my dress so my poor father didn't have to drag me. Once the blusher was lifted I was almost there. I remember walking up and nervously eyeing the steps of the altar... when I saw my bridesmaid Chrissy mouth "One step at a time". Thank you Chrissy!
And I made it thru the whole entire ceremony without falling!
Anyone else trip on their way down the aisle? Or is it just me? It can't be just me. Please tell me its not just me.
Too cute! I can't wait to read more! :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww, trip or no trip, I'm sure it was still precious!
ReplyDeleteI love your stole! You know how many brides have tripped on those darn petticoat/slip things!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you can laugh about a little trippin' down the aisle makes me smile. It's the stuff we don't expect but can laugh about that make wonderful memories. I'm so happy for both of you!! Keep the photos rolling please!!!
ReplyDeleteBig wishes and hugs coming your way!!

Oh no! I tripped on my dress all the way down the aisle too. My dress apparently was a tad too long and I had to kick my feet out to keep from tripping. The look on the wedding video was a waddling bride...too funny. You looked beautiful. I love your whole look...just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI cannot say that I tripped going down the aisle but I have to say that if I had you handled it much better than I would have. Of course, my dress was tea length so there was no threat of tripping.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the stole by the way.
I had the same problem. I chose three inch heels that tied with a ribbon around my ankle as opposed to um, say, a normal shoe back. My man is a foot taller than I am, so I assumed I needed to wear heels. And a huge skirt. I ripped a piece of tulle off the dress during photos.
ReplyDeleteAlso...just to make you feel better... back in the days of wedding planning, I had a bride who chose to release doves. She didn't follow the dove owner's instructions on holding it properly and it pooped down the front of her dress at the end of the ceremony right before they released them.
I've seen some things, let me tell you.
The stole and birdcage veil are ever so chic.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! :)

Ahhh this is my nightmare! I trip all the time. In regular shoes...or barefoot..on air...in my home that I'm very familiar with. EEK! But it sounds like you pulled it off with grace. Your dress is beautiful, and I love the old fashioned veil!
ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous ... even if there is a camera attached to the side of your face!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am LOL over the whole tripping/veil/eyelash thing! But knowing you, you were your beautiful self and B and the rest of the congregation were taken with you!!!!!!!!
It is a great story you'll be telling your kids and grandkids!
Can't wait for more!
Your descriptions are awesome! If you can't laugh at yourself a bit then where will you be left?! I'm so glad you made it, in the end. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat I remember about walking down the aisle is that I knew when my dad and I were supposed to go, but there was some miscommunication or something for him, like he was waiting for people to stand, and the music cue passed, and then came again, and I pretty much pushed us out the doors. Which they had closed, and I didn't know they were going to be closed (so I couldn't be seen, duh.) It was just a moment though, and the rest of the ceremony was fine.
Your story is great! The eyelashes, the petticoat. And you (and the pictures) are lovely!!
The pictures look great!!! Congratulations and many blessings to you and your new hubby!
ReplyDeleteYou will always have that memory with you. It's just reality and something fun to laugh about.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteHah. My parents both walked me down the aisle and practically had to hold me back from zoooooming on down, so at least you kept a measured pace =)
You're back! I've been thinking about you often. So happy to see the beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mrs. B!
