Am I getting married today?!
Well my lovelies, today is the day. Or actually tomorrow because I put together some of this post ahead of time and I just came back to add that it is 9:30 pm and I'm back at home in my jammies. The rehearsal lasted about 30 minutes and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing tomorrow. But I'm sure people will give me directions.
The escort cards turned out all wonky and we are fixing those and we have to assemble the cranes... I can't wait to show them to you.
Everything is going by at light speed and I'm so happy to have this blog as a journal to look back on!
I don't feel nervous but then again my palms aren't normally this sweaty. I'm eager and anxious and so full. OMG just wait until I tell you all about the rehearsal dinner!
While you are reading this I will be getting ready to marry the most amazing man in the world. I'll be at my parents house with my 4 bridesmaids, 2 hair dressers, 1 make-up artist, parents, photographer, videographer and gingerbread.
I have this song to share with you. Some of you are already fans I am sure...
Why? Because I love it. Because I can barely listen to it without crying these days. Because I love Christmas and because Canon in D (the instrumental part) is what will be playing while I walk down the aisle. To marry my best friend. My whole world will be waiting there for me when those doors open.
I'll leave you with a reading from the wedding... and I'll be back soon with tales to tell!
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Romans
I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God,
to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,
holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.
Do not conform yourselves to this age
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and pleasing and perfect.
Let love be sincere;
hate what is evil,
hold on to what is good;
love one another with mutual affection;
anticipate one another in showing honor.
Do not grow slack in zeal,
be fervent in spirit,
serve the Lord.
Rejoice in hope,
endure in affliction,
persevere in prayer.
Contribute to the needs of the holy ones,
exercise hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you,
bless and do not curse them.
Rejoice with those who rejoice,
weep with those who weep.
Have the same regard for one another;
do not be haughty but associate with the lowly;
do not be wise in your own estimation.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil;
be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all.
If possible, on your part, live at peace with all.
The Word of the Lord.
Thank you so much for your well wishes! I just love you all!!

So excited and happy for you! Enjoy every second!
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspirational passage to choose - fabulous. Sending lots of love from rainy freezing lancashire!

I woke up this morning and thought, "Hey Dandy and her B are getting married today!!" I am praying for you, that today will go just as you have envisioned it. And that, when you walk down the aisle B will just be totally bowled over, in a figurative sense that is. Not good form for the groom to fall over in a dead faint when he sees the bride.
ReplyDeleteI thought about you all last night and was sure there would be no post today what with all of the last minute details ... but I should not have underestimated you!
ReplyDeleteWhat I find this morning is a girl who shows grace under pressure and documents a most beautiful and eloquent entry in today, her wedding day blog!
We're taking the grandkids to Breakfast with Santa at the St. Louis Zoo today ... 10 adults and 3 babies!!! ... but with all of today's commotion ... I'll be thinking of you, my dear Dawn.
I raise a glass to you for happiness, health, prosperity and a long life together.
God bless you and B as you start your new journey today.
Hugs and more hugs ... and double cheek kisses!
I was thinking about you when I woke up this morning, too. How does it feel to know that you are being cheered on, blessed, and celebrated clear across the globe?! I can't wait to see the pictures and hear the stories!
ReplyDeleteReal Time posting (isn't this what flickr is for?):
ReplyDeleteI had the hardest time going to sleep. My fingers and tummy were bloated from all the Chinese food I ate. I wondered why I didn't have control top underwear. I tossed, I turned. I wondered if I had all my jewelry. I finally fell asleep and woke up at 3 am drenched in sweat. Drenched! I had to take off my pajamas! And its 6:40 and I am up. I needed to calm my nerves, I needed a little dose of you. And here you all are. I'm so amped up its a bit hard to type.
Thank you so much for thinking of me. You have no idea how much it means.
I feel much calmer, err, more calm, err clamererer now.
I won't have a post lined up for tomorrow morning but I'll be getting something up vewy, vewy soon!
Congratulations! As a former groom, I can tell you he's just as nervous as you, until he sees you walking down the aisle.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day.

Wow you're getting married! I remember when I first started reading your blog, thinking that you were months away from getting married...and now it's the day!
ReplyDeleteI just love the passage that will be read. Many blessing to you on your wedding day!
Eagerly awaiting all the wonderful recaps :)
I love that song! I've heard it before at weddings or special events, but I never knew the name, and I didn't realize it was connected to that Merry Christmas part at the beginning. I got teary eyed again listening to it. It's a beautiful song. I'm so happy for you and I can't wait to see all of the pictures!!
ReplyDeleteYay... I'm sitting here with my hairdresser and makeup artist and clothing designer too, and we're really cheering you on. What a coincidence!
ReplyDeleteJust kidding. (not about the cheering part)
I mean, I''m kidding about the people I'm with, unless you consider a six and eight year old authorities on my hair and make up and boy do they try... My daughter loves to play hair salon while I'm typing. And I look good, let me tell you... getting your hair multi-braided and ratted and tied with ribbons is a look you really should consider before you walk down the aisle. Really... it makes a statement.
Best wishes dear friend!

Congratulations!!! Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteWe deliberately scheduled our wedding late so we didn't have to get up early to get ready -- I woke up at 6:45am and had nowhere to be until 11:30am. I had already packed, so I went to the gym for something to do.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!! I CANT WAIT TO HEAR ALL ABOUT IT - MAKE SURE IT IS COMPLETE WITH PICTURES OKAY? yayyyy! congratulations, i know the day is going to be AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwww, blessings to you guys on this VERY special day. Dawn, I'm absolutely positive that you were radiant, and B was utterly captivated (errr, not to be confused with captive although really he is now, bwhahahahaha) ;). I love, love, love that chapter in Romans. So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS!!! Can't wait to hear about it and see pictures!
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond happy for you. This is the beginning of forever with your very best friend, B.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to all of the beautiful wedding pictures and of course, reception pictures too.

Congratulations to you and B!!
What a beautiful scripture to found your new life together on. The very best blessings to you always.
ReplyDeleteOh Dawn, what a precious day for you---I hope it's all you dreamed (dreamed, dreamt???---you know what I mean) it would be---the wedding is wonderful, but the married life is better---most of the time! Best wishes---I love the Romans passage you shared---What a blessing God's word is to us---hugs, hugs, hugs from the south!!!---because that's just what we do!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, and my very best wishes to you both.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to hear from you at this busy moment in your life. But really not surprised either. You are such a blessing to so many of us, and we love you too :) And, I wish you all the best, and more! I love the Christmas version of Canon in D (or any version of it, for that matter). And the scripture, I want to hold in my heart.

Millions of blessings on you as you begin your journey together!
