'Twas the night before Autumn, when all through the house
not a pumpkin was baking, so I yelled at my spouse.
Well it really is Autumn Eve and although I didn't yell at B,
he has heard his fair share of my pumpkin rants.
Did you know that I've been to 8 different stores looking for canned pumpkin?
Everyone has canned pumpkin pie mix but not plain pumpkin.
What on Earth is that about?
I received a tip yesterday about some canned pumpkin at a store in Huntington Beach,
and I meant to stop by today but didn't have the time.
I was really hoping to kick off fall with some pumpkin baked goods.
And I was pouting about it.
Did you know that if you wish hard enough for a bit a fall,
that the Pumpkin Fairy will deliver a gift on Autumn Eve?!
It's true!
We found this on our doorstep when we got home.
I can hardly believe our luck.
There are so many recipes here that I can't wait to try.
I barely know where to start.
Thank you mysterious pumpkin fairy
for helping spread some fall cheer,
just in time for the Autumn Equinox!
Happy Fall Everyone!
I think this is my favorite blog post yet!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the pumpkin, make yummy treats,
and don't forget to leave some for the pumpkin fairy to eat!
Happy Fall!!!
XOXO
The Pumpkin Fairy
You're a nut! And you make me smile early in the morning!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so ready for some pumpkin pie/cake/cookies (with chocolate chips)...fall's going to be bad for my waistline, I can tell!
ReplyDeleteseriously...no joke?? i just opened a can of that yesterday and made THE best pumpkin brownies. it was more like pumkin cake. oh it was good. fall in a can...yep it is. happy weekend girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they sold just plain canned pumpkin! I just bought my first pumpkin solely for cooking and not decorating. I'm not really sure where to start. Maybe I'll try one of those recipes!
ReplyDeletePS I can't believe in just a little over a month your little Peanut will be ONE! Where did the time go?!
You always make me smile. I love PUMPKIN!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why plain canned pumpkin (like the can the Pumpkin Fairy brought you) is so hard to find in OC! Here in the Bay Area I know at least four or five mainstream grocery chains that would have it, and then there are the smaller "gourmet" food shops...anyway, happy baking! (FWIW, Naomi loves Costco's pumpkin pie - so inexpensive it's almost a better deal than making your own, when you factor in the time involved!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall to you too!
ReplyDeleteAnd bless your heart for using canned pumpkin and not the pie filling stuff....there is a world of difference. My mom taught me that. : )
That's so weird that you haven't been able to find pumpkin! I thought of you in the store the other day, actually, as I passed the canned stuff... I'm glad the Pumpkin Fairy came through! :)
