An intro to finger foods
The other day we decided to let Peanut try those little puffs of whatever they are.. you know, the ones that supposedly dissolve in their mouths.
It started with a painfully slow and frustrating lesson in dexterity.
Those little suckers really stick to those chubby little fingers of his.
You try and try to get those near your mouth and then they stick to your chin.
Mom, where is that thing I wanted to put in my mouth?
It's on your chin, darling.
Here let me help you with that.
See isn't that better?
No dear, you're supposed to suck on it... smoosh it in your mouth... eat it.
Is it sticking to your lip? What are these things made of...glue?
Let me help you again.
Really? Why are you making that face?
You don't think twice about trying to eat my shoes and you make that face with something completely edible.
Wait a minute. Where did it go?
Did it dissolve already or did you just push it to the back of your throat?
Huh.
I think I got my answer.
Well, that went well.
Maybe tomorrow we'll try sandwiches.
This is too cute! It's so funny to watch them work so tediously to pick up their food. We kind of skipped past the whole puree thing and cheerios are the hit around here. That and goldfish crackers. It feels so long since finger foods I feel like I've forgotten how to do this!!! Must be the lack of sleep...
ReplyDeleteHe'll get the hang of it and then want nothing else! Caroline likes to store about 5 of them in her cheek and a couple more in the palms of her hands....
