The Impersonator

IMG_5718

I'd like to start off this post by talking about something entirely different. This is very important. I want you to listen carefully.

I miss you. I do. I used to be able to read all your blogs. I used to feel in touch with your life. I haven't forgotten you. I haven't. I'm just so busy that I've been neglecting you. But don't think this will always be a one way street. Oh no, I'll be back. We'll be reunited.

And it will feel so good. (sorry, I totally had to go there)

Back to the impersonator. This is Gingerbread my sister.

She likes to lay in the gutter and make the cars passing by think she is road kill. We just smile and wave to reassure them there is not a dead beagle in the gutter.

Oh Ginger, as a sister I feel I must tell you that this position you are in isn't the most complimenting. You look a bit wide. A bit sausage-like.

I never understood how this dog feels comfortable in the gutter. Inside the house she refuses to even sit on a cold floor. She only sits on carpet, a rug, your lap.

This is Gingerbread impersonating a seal. Do you see it?

IMG_5726

You'd think she ran a marathon with as exhausted as she looks. Only.. you know.. maybe she's not the svelte type of marathon runner.

IMG_5727

This is Gingerbread interpreting a pig. I swore I saw some just like this at the county fair.

I think I should introduce Ginger to Charlie. It'll make her feel young and energetic again.

Do you have any pets?

  1. That would freak me out if I drove by! I wake up my cats when they're napping because I freak out if I can't see them breathing.

My always-helpful cat is currently sleeping on the pile of fabric I just cut to lengths to make curtains. She already napped on the lining fabric, so she must prefer the pattern. And that's the less-naughty of the two cats. Sigh.

But I actually popped by because I saw this post and thought immediately of you. =)

  2. Aww..is that yours? She looks so sad!

Yes, we have a puppy, named Mocha and she is totally my 6th child! LOL.

  3. I agree with Gingerbread, there's no place not good enough for a nap! Nice photos.

  4. You only have 24 hours in a day, my dear, and with only 17 days to go until the wedding, your priorities are a LITTLE different! So don't think a thing of it ... not one thing ... Although ...
I did blog about meeting our Pioneer Woman last night. ;->hehehhe!!!
Today after staying up until 2 to blog, I want to be Ginger. I'll nap anywhere!

  5. She definitely looks like she'd get along great with Charlie! :-)

  6. I just need to read that again to see how it relates to wedding preparations. Sometimes I feel that I miss the nuances, what with the cultural differences and all...

Nope. Just setting off to read it for the 3rd time. I could be here awhile.

  7. Dogs have it so rough. You have every right to be a busy girl! Weddings are time consuming, but oh so worth the effort. All will be back to normal soon. Just don't be tempted to go lay in a gutter or anything... :)

We have two dogs, Australian Shepherds, named Dixie and Hank. Hopefully we'll have some puppies in a few months, too!

  8. I'd say you're a bit preoccupied with an important event on the horizon. I'm just glad you're finding time to blog and sharing all the details!:)

    That dog is a riot!

  9. Poor Gingerbread! LOL. She doesn't know it but she's living life dangerously!

AND. I noticed your wedding counter! I haven't a clue how you have any time at all!

  10. Used to have dogs and be a dog person before children. Now no pets. But I think Gingerbread is swell from her name to her personality. I think she and I could hang. Don't tell hubs I said that! He'll try to convince me to get another dog!!! Hope the wedding plans are going smoothly, awaiting more cookie posts patiently... hint hint! :)

  13. What a great way to spend the day. I too would have to take many a second glances just to make sure she wasn't dead. Perhaps it's like white noise to a dog, she can listen to the sounds of the street beneath her?

Hey, no worries about visiting. We know the wedding is literally just around the corner and you've every right to be busy! Once life becomes normal, things will right themselves and the world will be OK once more.

  14. p.s. I know you are really busy but if you get time I have a post about editing a friends wedding picture. Thought you might like this idea!

  15. You should arrange a nap-date for Ginger and Charlie...what an excellent pretext for getting to meet his mom!

  16. Now see... why haven't I come across a dog with this personality? Dogs who pretend to be roadkill are exactly MY kind of dog!

I am in the EXACT same boat as you when it comes to blogging... I feel like the days are getting ahead of me and I'm becoming the worst reading/commenting/replying blog buddy to everyone myself... and I don't even have a wedding to blame.

I wasn't really blogging in the "blog world" last Holiday season, so I have no idea if this is normal but I assume it is... but I assume a lot, and you know what they say about that.

Okay, darling- your countdown awaits! We'll be here waiting for ya!

  17. Cute little Ginger.

Only 17 more days!!! Yeah! So excited for you. Hope you enjoy the next couple of weeks!

  18. Haha, this totally made my day! If I were a passerbyer, id think she was roadkill too! Maybe she has some memories in that spot? By the gutter? Not sure why she’d love it so much… or maybe she wants to get an up close look at the cars passing by?!

i dont have pets, i've never had any :(

  19. Hehhee, silly Ginger. She's a gutter dog for sure. And a cute one at that.

  20. Hilarious! hahahahahahahahaha....she is spectacular, and being that she is your sister I would expect no less! ....I have a dopey dog, and two cats...one to whom I am afraid was not born with a brain, none the less, he thinks he is a dog...stange.

  22. Lazy ol' Beagle!

Don't you worry about us...you've got a wedding to think about! (And by the way, be sure you enjoy that day. Don't stress. Don't worry. Just be present!)

  23. Oh my gosh that is hilarious. I just snorted my Apple crisp as I was reading this. My dog Max is just hoping that I might drop some of the Apple Crisp. Ever hopeful.

  24. Poor big sister of yours....she does great impersonations. Will she be a part of the wedding?

Don't even apologize for not being able to pop in and comment...you're getting married!!!!!!!!!

I'm so so so excited for you!

  25. You are so funny! I love your Ginger. I would be a little worried about her laying so close to the road though...she might end up as road kill:o She needs to go on a few walks...grab that sister's leash;)

  26. We all totally understand why you aren't reading your favorite blogs. I am in the same boat. Not getting married but with moving across the country. I am behind in my reading and in posting. I am new to blogging and want to get in a habit but with moving, it has totally overwhelmed me. Your countdown is REALLY close:)

  27. gingerbread is hilarious! i would totally think she was roadkill. love dogs - have one of my own, but she is far too hyper to be fake road kill. a mellow dog must be nice! :)

  28. Ginger needs to come to the farm for a workout; she'd fit right in with our beasties. We have four dogs, two of whom are severely overweight and the other two are puppies, eating their way through life.

    ReplyDelete
  29. LOL! She does look like roadkill. I would have the kids look away if I passed her.

  30. Ha HA ha - this is the funniest thing I've seen all week. Thanks for the smile!

I enjoyed visiting your blog. Although I'm not sure we can be friends since you can fit into skin-tight jeans. (sigh) ;)
