The Time Traveler's Wife

First off, I will be posting the final installment of the diagnosis by approximately 8:24pm Friday night. I've been meaning to but the week has been full because I had to attend another fancy dinner (Dine for the Cure) and I needed to sort through my mounds of pictures from high school and I have to go see Harry Potter tonight. It cannot be helped. Sometimes the tedious tasks of my life get in the way of my priorities.

Speaking of Harry Potter... another book I loved, The Time Traveler's Wife, has been made into a movie that will come out next month.

The story is about the love and life between Clare the beautiful artist and Henry the handsome librarian. The difference between this story and the many other love stories out there? Henry is a time traveler. He has a "Chrono-Impairment" which whisks him away from the present time without a moments notice. He doesn't know where or when he will end up. Mostly he travels to his past and sometimes to his future always wondering what situations he will find himself in. He leads his life out of order but always, always gets pulled back to Clare.

When Clare and Henry first meet she is 6 years old and he is 36. What do you do when you meet the love of your life at only 6 years old? What kind of life do you live when your husband could disappear in the middle of dinner and not return for days? How do you know he is safe? Will he return to you?

Theirs is a love that truly trancends time.

It was author Audrey Niffineger's debut novel and I will definitely be reading more of her books. Did you read it? Let me know what you thought.

And here is the trailer for The Time Travelers Wife

Who wants to see it with me?

  3. Oh you should Adrienne!

Jana- Of course I've read the Twilight books :) And I'll be seeing New Moon in November. I'm looking forward to seeing what they could do with a bigger budget.

  4. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through your posts. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I will add The Time Traveler’s Wife to my current list of must reads. I am a book-a-holic and am always adding to my collection. Old books, new books, it does not matter. Someone once asked me if I actually read any of them and appeared surprised when I said yes.

  6. To be honest, I'd read it and then had totally forgotten that I'd already read it until somebody reminded me of the plot again. Must be my mommy brain. My memory is just not quite the same anymore. :) I did like the story, though and now having just viewed the trailer, I'd love to watch the movie.

  14. I've had this book for months and months and have never made time to read it. Looks like I better read it before the movie opens. I hope the movie is as good as the Trailer makes it look!

  15. I'll go with you. We can watch it in our respective towns and chat later. I tried to listen to the book - too confusing. Haven't read it yet. I normally refuse to see a movie based on a book I haven't read. They usually ruin the book. But, I'll make an exception to my little rule if we are going together.

  16. I really want to read this book. I can't decide if I should read the book and then see the movie, or vice versa. With Harry Potter, I always get frustrated with the movies not being true to the book. They're so good, why change them? So hopefully this one is true to the book. The trailers such make it look great, although quite sad in parts. I think any woman who has had to wait for a man, either in the military, police, or fire service would really appreciate the idea of being "left behind".
