Mr. Pickles Sandwiches (and some sharks)

IMG_8867

What do sandwiches and sharks have in common?

Absolutely nothing,
except for the fact that we had a picnic of Mr. Pickles outside the aquarium.

B found out that morning that he didn't have to work and we decided to head to the aquarium.

I've been hearing about Mr. Pickles sandwiches for a while.

In fact, there is a list of sandwiches that I want to try but I needed to pick one that would travel well.

When we have time to sit I want to try The Hot T
which has hot turkey, melted pepper jack, baja sauce & cranberry sauce.

I love cranberry sauce on a sandwich.

For the first time in months we were able to see the sharks
because their wasn't a huge crowd in front of the windows.

I kept focusing my camera on the sharks in the middle of the tank.

I would only be looking thru my viewfinder and then
one of these guys would pop up in front of the camera and scare the bejeezus out of me.

It's unnerving.

Afterwards we sat on the grass outside, overlooking the boats and the lighthouse
and enjoyed our sandwiches.

Man those sandwiches are good... and huge.. and hardy.

I mean, the BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado & tomato) is a double decker!

Peanut and I shared the turkey, avocado and cream cheese,
which you would be able to see if it weren't so blown out.

Although I was pulling out the things that he could eat,
Peanut really wanted to bite it like a big boy.

It was really weird sitting on the grass with our little man,
sharing grown-up food with him,
watching him crawl around.

It was one of those perfect gorgeous days.

Impromptu picnic, happy baby, good food, fun exploring, happy parents.

  2. It is NEVER too early to introduce BLT's. And I have to say I have never had one with Avacado on it but I am thinking that would be very good.

  6. I love Mr. Pickles and here's why: cream cheese! Why did I never think to put cream cheese on my sandwiches?! I love it. My favorite is the turkey avocado and cream cheese or the pastrami, avocado and cream cheese. So tasty!

I also love that you get a cookie with every sandwich.

Peanut looks too adorable and so grown up! I can't believe he's almost a year old.

  7. Hi Dandy! It's so good to 'see' you again over at my place. Wow, has Peanut grown! And beautiful as can be. What a lovely day you all had.

I just read back through some of your posts -- my book club read "The Forgotten Garden" too, and we all loved it. If you google Kate Morton, she talks about the Secret Garden connection. That bothered me, too, at first because it's one of my favorite childhood books and I thought she was messing with it!

Good to hear from you, and as always I am now hungry after seeing all your gorgeous food pics!

  8. Looks like a wonderful time. One of our favorite things to do is get sandwiches and then go somewhere outside to eat them. I can't believe how BIG Peanut is. Wow, weren't you just pregnant a week ago? ;-) As a matter of fact, wasn't I just engaged? Time is flying!!
