Mother's Day in the Real World

IMG_2992

Although this is a very cute picture of my little man, it's really just a courtesy photo.
You see, the next two photos are both gross and disturbing.  They contain a large amount of baby poop.  They aren't pretty.  They may cause you to gag.

I wanted to give you the opportunity to turn back.   It isn't pretty.

But you know what?  Sometimes being a mom just isn't pretty.

These are the only two pictures I have of Peanut and I from Mother's Day.

The whole mess started when Moose pooped while bouncing and bouncing and jumping and jumping in the jumperoo.

When I took him back to the changing table he would not stop wiggling and kicking his legs and flapping his arms and this is what the result was.

Clearly, the kid doesn't care a bit.

I'm hoping next year's mother's day present will be a bit more glamorous.

  3. Impressive! Side note: my nickname was Moose as a kid, too. My dad thought it would be funny to name a little baby girl Moose. Your little man is adorable moose poop and all!

  4. Hilarious. And so true. Motherhood can be kinda poopy at times. Oddly, I was kinda relieved when we had our first girl. Erroneously thought my chances of getting peed on were greatly reduced. One of her very first diapers I changed she tooted and shot poo across the room and hit the freshly painted nursery wall. I was amazed and horrified all at once. Peanut/Moose is still might adorable, even if slathered in poo.

  5. Very impressive Moose! If you are going to do a job you might as well do it well. Someday I will tell you the story of Cartoon Girl's first poop....and she didn't manage it until she was a week old. She was storing things up if that tells you anything.

  6. OH WOW! That is awesome. You are bound to have at least 2 or 3 REALLY good blow-outs during his diaper days.
Just hope he doesn't start sticking his hands in it and "painting" the walls, like my boys.
    Fun stuff.

  7. okay he's smeared head to toe in poop and is STILL the cutest baby in the world! Motherhood definitely is NOT glamorous.

  8. Oh no!! I love that he is smiling in the second picture! We haven't had THAT bad of a blowout yet, although we had some projectile pooping that covered everything within three feet of her! Oh the joys of being a mommy- I'll take it any day :)

  12. Oh My! I have some impressive baby poop stories, but that is one for the books! That's when you put them in the tub, rinse, wash, repeat, repeat, repeat! Then bleach the tub! haha I always felt like my own baby's poop was gross but not unmanageable...if someone else's kid did that to me? Then there would have been a problem. :)

  13. Heh. You've got a genuine poop-up-the-back there. That's what we used to call them. We had SO MANY poops-up-the-backs, and they always paralyzed me--like where do I start, and how can I possibly NOT make this worse?!?! I love how Peanut looks quite pleased with himself in the first putb photo! You are so awesome, keepin' it real! I love that about you!

  16. OMG... it's been a long time since I've seen *that*. Very impressive, Peanut! LOL, nowadays it's "just" critter poo that I'm exposed to on a daily basis :) He's adorable, no matter what! Belated Happy Mother's Day to You! -Tammy

  17. SO late in digging thru my google reader, but OH. MY. GOSH!!!! I have so been there---but, fortunately it's been awhile! Well, I am a witness that they quit pooping in their pants---but then they grow up and leave you!HA! How's that for a happy thought! SO glad you captured that for posterity! He needs to know what you went through to mother him! Happy VERY belated Mother's day to you---

  18. Just came back, and really who would come back to see poop except for me? Ha! I brought the male twin with me to get a bird's eye view of what his 'catastrophe' looked like. Something tells me I won't have to tell him the story in quite so much detail anymore. ; )
