We're still here...

IMG_7301

the Peanut, B & I apologize for our lapse in posting. You'll have to excuse the little Peanut as he hasn't quite grasped the importance of mommy's need to blog.

Children can be so funny about these types of things. They seem to think that eating, pooping and being held in general are so much more important than knowing what's new in the blogosphere.

This week we've had B's parents in from Sacramento, as well as his niece and nephew. The Peanut had lots and lots of attention and loved every minute of it, I'm sure.

This child is awake more than I expected... aren't newborns supposed to sleep a lot? He typically wakes up in the morning and doesn't go back to sleep until the afternoon. He hates his bassinet and wants to be held at night so things are getting interesting around here.

We have lots to talk to you about but this post has taken me an extraordinary amount of time as I haven't mastered one-handed typing.

We'll be back soon!

  1. My arms are just aching to hold that deer sweet boy! Anyway, yes, babies normally do sleep a lot more than that. They usually doze off and on all day. He probably just has a lot on his mind because he is so brilliant. Both of my kids slept a lot, not so brilliant.

  2. I can't believe how alert he looks! Our kids were snugglers - just wanted to be cuddled to sleep. We werent so keen!

Let's hope this is the start of him working out day from night and that being awake in the day he will be a fabulous sleeper at night!!

If he is, please give me some tips! Xxx

  4. Awww, he is such a cutie. Our first baby was also very alert. I thought it was crazy, but I guess each child is so different. :)
These days are hard and wonderful at the same time. I hope you are able to enjoy moments, and also I hope you are able to vent when necessary!

  6. I can not get over how ADORABLE he is! I also can't believe that you have been on the computer so much! It was about 2 weeks until I opened up the computer after Emme was born! It then took me about two weeks to master the art of one handed typing... You rock!

  7. My first only slept for the first 4 days after we brought him home. After that, not so much.
    It gets better eventually.
Now he sleeps 12 hours a night. Still fights it though.

  8. Hmmm...likes being held at night, eh? Sounds familiar! I think these babies get together and plot against us! He's lucky he's soooooooooooo incredibly adorable!!!!!!!! How is he smiling already?!! He is one happy baby. He should be--he's got awesome parents. :o) We loved the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It might help. It might not. :o)

  13. Oh my...so precious! He's beautiful.

Hang in there with the sleep, etc. That's tough for sure - but worth it!

  15. He sure is beautiful! I doubt if I'd ever have had time to blog when I had babies, if there had been such a thing back in those days of old. You just have to sleep when he sleeps- at all costs. And yes that means foregoing housework and food prep- for the time being.

  16. So gorgeous is he, and that skin! Such beautiful skin. He looks so content.

Not only do babies not understand the need to type with both hands, they don't seem to get that mom needs to eat, sleep, and poop herself occasionally. Or shower. And have you noticed yet that they seem to need immediate ASAP attention the minute you answer the phone?

  17. The idea that newborns sleep a lot is propaganda intended to ensure the continuation of our species =o)

He's absolutely beautiful! Enjoy every minute and don't worry, soon you'll be able to breastfeed, eat your own breakfast and blog at the same time.
