In keeping with this rejoicing, we're so happy we're pregnant theme this week.... I'd like to talk about how this child of mine is literally sucking the life out of me.
Sucking the life out of me. I mean that in the most maternal way possible. Of course.
I just can't ever remember a time I was so exhausted. I take a nap when I get home from work, wake up to eat and then go back to bed. Of course, its hard to sleep when you spend half the night urinating. I just said urinating. You see, these are the things you can look forward to reading.
I'm exactly 10 weeks along which, according to The Bump, makes my fetus comparable to a prune. A prune? Really? There wasn't something else to compare it to?
But prune really isn't so bad. This past weekend my sister saw my 9 week sonogram and announced it looked like a potato bug. I had just seen a potato bug for the first time this past year and ~shudder~ well... have you seen a potato bug?! I think she may be trying to give me nightmares. I revoked her baby holding priveleges until.... well eternity at this point. She emailed me potato bug pictures yesterday morning so I feel justified in my decision.
So even though I managed to blog thru my wedding weekend and during my honeymoon I somehow have not been able to keep up during the pregnancy thus far. But I feel like things are picking up a bit around here.
I have a massive amount of restaurant/food posts I'll get up as soon as I can look at the pictures without getting queasy. I shouldn't complain too much because I really haven't been too sick.
Oh and for those of you who have asked, my due date is October 28th which is 3 days after the lovely LeAnna!
LOVELY! Dan is oct 26th - it was great timing. Felt our heads were kind of above water in time to enjoy Christmas!!
ReplyDeletePeople say astonishing things, don't they?! At the moment I have people coming up to me saying "wow, can't be long now, youre looking really big!" and I reply with a stony glare "I have TEN WEEKS TO GO"... then I threaten to show them the sexy tubigrip I have to wear because my stomach muscles have given up!! Soon shuts em up!!
Won't be long before you can make it to 9pm wihtout falling asleep... and then pretty soon you'll feel your lovely baby wriggle and then everything is worth it!!!
When you start having weird pregnancy dreams-- I want to hear about them. One more fun thing to look forward to!
ReplyDeletePotato Bug? Prune? Not sure which is worse to compare it to. There must be something better out there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteShould be interesting to see what food cravings come your way. I am sure we will read about it.
A potato bug? For reals! Psshhhhh, I'd spank my sisters bottom. ;) I'm glad you haven't been feeling too bad, now you better not talk about it anymore or I might not be able to be your friend. Oh....not really... :) Seriously, I'm glad! It is a blessing to not be sick all the time. It has severely affected my blogging abilities. Or maybe my whole brain. Unlike urinating all night, this too shall pass.
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so excited for you! And excited we're due date buddies. Can't wait to see your little prune! :)
I was on BabyCenter.com when I was pregnant and I remember that they would always compare the baby to food, too! :)
ReplyDeleteOK, so I was really bugged about the whole Prune/Potato Bug thing. I decided to find and alternative.
ReplyDeleteKalamata olive? - too small
slice of pepperoni? - too big
width of a Dole Banana? - ummm, too phallic(sorry)
And then I found it! The length of a Hershey's miniature bar is just about the size. Go with the chocolate.
WOW I am so behind times. I know I get the updates on everyone that ablogs, but spring has sprung, hubby retired, busy, busy, busy. Long story short, I havaen't been reading.
ReplyDeleteAnd then today I come to you and YOU'RE PREGANT! Congratulations!
I love kissing babies necks and their sweet feet.
Best wishes to you both, I mean all 3!!!
I was exactly the same way when I was pregnant. I went to bed at 7:00 at night and napped through the day. I was lucky enough to be unemployed at the time. Not sure how people do it who work!!
ReplyDeleteIt gets easier. One day you'll wake up and you will feel energized and full of life...literally:)
I had to pop over and say congrats....seriously I don't know the last time I was so excited for someone to have a baby!
ReplyDeleteI read your post about peeing on the stick and had to laugh, I did the same thing.
We had just started trying...like literally 8 days...and I got a horrible cold. Went to the doctor he gave me meds. I asked can you take these if you're pregnant? He asked if I was, and I told him "well as of eight days ago I could be" He laughed told me he was sure I was not and that I would be trying a little longer than that. I went home, bought four pregnancy tests, one digital, just in case. Same story as you, kind of there, kind of not, so I had to do the digital. I will never forget how it felt when it flashed pregnant.
I then called the doctor told him I was indeed preggers and he never answered my question, could I take the meds, he had the nurse tell me no :)
Enjoy this Dandy, everything, every bit of it is a miracle.
Can't wait to see a bump!!
Yay! October 28th is my birthday :)
ReplyDeleteYay! That's a week after my wedding. That's a very good month! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. I have to admit when I was pregnant with my first during the first trimester I would go into the ladies room and lay down on the bench in there and take cat naps. I could sleep anywhere and anytime. This will pass and they you will have more energy than you know what to do with...
ReplyDeleteHang in there.
Ugh... that exhaustion of the first trimester... So remember that. At least you aren't puking. I threw up for for seven months with AVA. It was nasty.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you really wanted to read that, didn't you?
OMG HALLOWEEN BABY!!!!! You are going to have SO much fun with her parties.
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting, you and LeAnna are going to be mommies at the same time!! woo ho! hang in there sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm away for a few days and you go and get pregnant. Way to go girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you. I remember those "tired" days. It'll pass after a few months, then the I'm so hungry I have to stop and get something to eat before I get home and eat dinner stage begins.
xxoo,
Rocky Mountain Woman
You should get your energy back by the 2nd trimester, just a few weeks away... Its all well worth it in the end of course. BTW my 3 year daughter is still sucking the energy out of me ;)
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
Andrea
This too will pass!
ReplyDeleteYou know ... for different reasons, of course than yours we were told 35 years ago that we couldn't have babies and had even made an appointment to see about adoption ... but found out that that I was pregnant ... that was 2 sons, both over 6'3'' and 4 grandkids ago! You'll LOVE being pregnant, Dawn!!!
God bless you and B.
Dawn,
ReplyDeleteUmmm potato bugs are just wrong. One should never comment with that. I hated them all last year and questioned whether we would plant this year because I cringed each time I encountered one in my garden last year. Not sure I want repeats.
Your adorable little one will look nothing like that and will be cute and adorable like you.
Hope you stop by as I am hosting weekly giveaways now on my blog.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
I love you and your honest writings. I can't wait for the months to come and all the stories of pregnancy. Thanks for sharing and putting a smile on my face. :)
ReplyDeleteI love reading your thoughts - it brings back fond memories. Hang in there you may not get more sleep but you'll just get used to the lack of it - eventually. ;-]
ReplyDeleteMmmm. Prunes. October baby! That's so wonderful! Oh my gosh, I so know what you mean. That little parasite in there really takes it out of you! I remember sleeping and eating constantly. I'd wake up in the middle of the night STARVING. I'd waddle downstairs, breathing like I was running a marathon, hands shaking as I mixed my Carnation Instant breakfast in reckless anticipation. Then I'd guzzle it down, I kid you not, rivers of CIB running down my cheeks. Gross. I was a gross pregnant woman guzzling things at 2 am. Pregnancy is so undignified. Oh!! And so beautiful and wonderful too. You know.
ReplyDeleteBabycenter is a great update tool from conception on like Buckeroomama said. And I swears it is Mother Nature's way of preparing you for Parenthood from the get go, all the needing to pee = diaper changes = toilet training = constant reminders for your kid to use the potty! All the fatigue, well get used to it...I haven't woken up yet! And the needing to snack when your pregnant is par for the course when you have a toddler!!! It's all worth it though.
ReplyDeleteBy the way remember the finger puppets from IKEA I have in my diaper bag.. I used them when we traveled to Nova Scotia, they still keep my kids entertained. You will appreciate good diaper bag toys...of course this is all a later stage. Since you enjoy eating out I recommend taking the baby out as early as you feel up to it. We did with our kids to get them used to restaraunts and I know someone who didn't and the baby was sensitive to the noise and stimulation and screamed all the time. My kiddos always feel asleep from the background noise!
You will be very tired. I slept a lot! (I also ate a lot:)
ReplyDeleteJust rest and in your second trimester, you will feel better. Enjoy every second of it!
Ok horrible sister here! IT DID LOOK LIKE A POTATO BUG! And for the record our mom agreed although I'm thinking she would probably deny it now after Dawn revoked my baby holding privileges....
ReplyDeletePS... She can't spank me! SHE'S the LITTLE sister!
Holy Absent from Blog land, Allegra!!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!
I have been so MIA I had NO idea and I'm jumping in my "no give" office chair but it's totally worth the bruising to my tail bone!! :) :) :)
Fantastic!! You're only 10 days behind me!! :-) I am so happy for you guys!
