New Zealand Part II from ian Hanna on Vimeo.
We are headed to New Zealand for our honeymoon and I couldn't be more excited!! We won't be leaving until January 1st so I'll be here to drive you mad for a while. Thats what the new countdown clock is for. We'll still talk about the wedding a bit and then again when I get the photos back from Adrienne.
Side note: all these pictures were pulled from New Zealand travel sites.
But, for right this moment I'm dreaming of spending 2 weeks in New Zealand with my husband. ~giggle~ I said husband. 2 whole weeks! We've never been on a trip like this. B has never been out of the country with the exception of Mexico.
In fact, we've never spent this much vacation time together. I think 4 or 5 days max.
We'll see if we make it thru the honeymoon.
Typically when B doesn't ride his mountain bike 2 days in a row he starts to drive me crazy. He gets antsy. He gets turrets. He gets restless. I have to send him out on his bike...if only around the neighborhood.
So I have a game plan. I'm going to keep him somewhat physically exhausted.
Are you with me people? I mean that we are partaking in quite a few excursions.
Things like black water rafting, hiking on a glacier, kayaking Lake Taupo, etc.
Sheesh, I know what you were thinking. I see right thru you. Yes, YOU. Don't try and look all innocent now.
I'll be sending him on an amazing Lake and Forest ride in Rotorua as well. Actually, I am not sending him...our friends and family are. Instead of the traditional registry B and I registered at The Big Day which is actually a honeymoon registry. We broke down our activities into a gift amounts and people were able to purchase things like 1 gift of dinner in Auckland or B's mountain bike ride. So thank you to Kacie and Reggie who are sending B on his ride.
Meanwhile, I'll be getting some time I need. Time that involves a dirty martini, a book and lets face it, probably you.
Did you honeymoon? Where did you go? What did you do?
You will both love NZ!
ReplyDeleteC and I had traveled all over Europe and Asia-Pacific, so we (er, I, actually) decided on Mexico. Now I realize that is a fairly commonplace destination for you guys in N. America, but it was 'exotic' to me. Mexico was picked for that reason and also because we didn't have much time before we had to get back to work, so we "sandwiched" our honeymoon during our Christmas trip back to Canada later that year (we got married in Aug). Practical gal here.
You are going to LOVE NZ.HHBL and I are hoping to get back there for our 25th which is next year.
ReplyDeleteHe and I spent a week in FL and a week on a cruise for our honeymoon.
I can't wait to hear about your trip! I hadn't heard of The Big Day website. What a great idea. We went camping in Colorado for our honeymoon. That was about the only thing our budget could survive. I was the camper. The Mr. had never been. We borrowed a tent and away we went. And now the Mr. sells RV's!! : )
ReplyDeleteOK! Yes, I admit ... I was going there ... I usually do! (Grinning sheepishly!)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, WOW! I really don't know all that much about NZ, but I bet I will when you get there!
Great idea about a gift registry for the honeymoon!
We went to Branson, Missouri for our honeymoon. That was 37 years ago, so the Branson back then was so much less commercialized than it is now. For the most part, it actually was peaceful! (We had to pay for our own wedding and so Branson was an inexpensive place for us to go. We really did have a lovely time.)
We went to Niagara Falls, Canada. Being I got married December 20, it was cold but beautiful. We just went for a few days as we wanted to be home for Christmas. We did go back in the fall to visit again.

That looks like the most fun! I am sure you'll enjoy it... and as someone who knows a few people that must get out on the bike (or for a run) daily, I have to tell you, I think you'll be able to distract him enough with all of that. How exciting!
ReplyDeleteI bet New Zealand will be amazing!!! We went to Seattle for our Honeymoon, which was incredible for my landlocked raised self. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I know you are going to have the best time girl!!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have one, and I always wished we had gone to Hawaii. We were just so young and getting married was all we could financially pull off, plus my man was still in college. We spent the night in a lodge.
We have taken one trip alone to Maui, however a few years ago! Adrain was awarded a company paid trip there for outstanding sales. It was heaven for four days!
How fun! My honeymoon, much like my marriage, was sad and depressing and I shan't sully your very exciting NZ trip with it. (Hint: my mother in law came with, not by my choice. Doomed from the start.)
ReplyDeleteGo see Hobbiton! DO IT FOR YOUR GEEKY FRIEND. :)
That looks unbelievable. I was wondering if you were going to take a honeymoon! YAY!! I can't wait to see pictures:)
ReplyDeleteRight on, you two have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThis looks magical!
ReplyDeleteDawn,
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an amazing trip and can't wait to see all the wonderful things you both will do and sharing all your pictures.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Why does it not surprise me that you're going to have a unique and amazing honeymoon,(just like your wedding)that seems to be so totally you?!! It looks amazing! Have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteYour honeymoon is going to be so fantastic! We went to the mountains and broke stuff on accident. Like cabin windows and big things like...cars...sigh. 'Twas a comedy of errors.
ReplyDeleteYou bet. That's exactly what I was thinking.
ReplyDeleteWe had a wonderful honeymoon in Oregon. It's not New Zealand, but we were only 21. We lived in Tennessee and Jeffrey's family was all originally from Oregon. I'd heard for years how gorgeous it was and I wanted to see for myself. We had an absolutely magical honeymoon. Full of mountains and oceans, tiny towns full of antiques, hiking and dune buggying, enormous ancient forests and frothing waterfalls, tiny dumpy coastal towns and a wonderful city, too. It was marvelous.
We loved it so much we moved to Oregon two years later. sigh.
I've always wanted to travel to New Zealand. I'm glad you guys didn't rush off on your honeymoon the day after the wedding. That just makes people frantic and it doesn't sound like fun! You gotta relax after a big day like that.
ReplyDeleteFor my honeymoon I think it would be amazing to either go on an Alaskan cruise or if we had the funds, travel to Ireland. I'm all about somewhere cold because it would encourage cuddling ;-)
That sounds so wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteOur honeymoon was so short! Too short. We got married the weekend after school started (we were still in college), and instead of just taking a week off we went away for two days and then jumped into the whole living-together, two-become-one thing. I regret it now. It was such a huge adjustment, and we didn't have time to have a whole lot of fun before...back to school! It sounds crazy now. Our life has been totally crazy, actually. Not like some, I'm sure, but never really normal.
You guys are going to have so much fun!
We didn't have a honeymoon but we have made up for it through the years by going on some great vacations. I can't wait to see all of your photos from the trip. Happy travels!
ReplyDeleteWhoa that looks cool. Would love to go there some day. Can't wait to hear all about it first hand from you two.
