Giveaway!

The original reason I was going to run this giveaway was to celebrate hitting the 50 follower mark! But then I logged on and I only had 49 followers. Ha! Isn't that just the way it works :)

So now I'm doing it just because I love you.

Well, also because I love books. I love to purchase books. I love to give books to other people. I have come to realize that just because I love books doesn't mean its what everyone one else wants for Christmas.... or birthdays...or flag day.

So, I'll be picking one winner by using one of the random calculator mathingies and you can pick one of the books listed.

Just leave me a comment telling me the two vital pieces of information:
1. Which book would you like?
2. What is your favorite dessert?

Contest will end on September 12nd (1 week) and the winner will be announced on September 13th (which happens to be my birthday)!

And the book choices are:

pw

P-Dubs long-awaited cookbook! This is actually pre-order and you won't get it until October 27th. I didn't actually realize that until just now... but I suspect some of you won't care because you want the book anyway.

domino

Domino! Well you know all about this book. I thought I would throw this in the mix too. You know you feel the need to decorate...or re-decorate...or plan for the next time you decorate.

time

The Time Traveler's Wife! I need someone to gab with me over the book and to compare the book with the movie and laugh and swoon and cry!

And if you are a man and don't want any of the above... (Urban Cowboy)we'll get you some cowboy poetry :)

  1. I would love to win the Time Traveller's Wife. I've been curious about reading it.

Fave dessert? Probably cheesecake. I love it.

    Congrats on almost 50 followers!

  2. Ummm - my favourite pudding changes ALL the time! Apple crumble and custard is hard to beat. Especially if my mum makes it. Swooon!

Tricky choice, but I would choose pioneer woman. Isn't tt'swife amazing? I'm too scared to see the film in case it ruins the book for me!!

  3. Hmmmmmmm, a favorite dessert is a tough one but I would have to say apple pie made with my grandma's recipe. You have to have vanilla ice cream and a piece of cheddar cheese with it to have the true experience.

And I would love "The Pioneer Woman Cooks".

    ReplyDelete
  4. Favorite dessert? Tiramisu? Apple Pie? Peach Pie? Well...it's one of the three. If I have to narrow it down, it will have to be fresh peach pie.

And the book? You are really making this difficult, aren't you, you little scamp! Book! Ree's cookbook. But the Domino comes in a close second.

That was hard work. Making difficult choices is hard work!

  5. You are too cool! I would love the Pioneer Woman's cookbook...it's on my wish list :) {oh, I already read the Time Traveler's Wife and loved it!}

Hmm...picking a favorite dessert is like picking a favorite child :) No, actually, I love ice cream!

  6. There, I thought I put you back to 50 and now you have 51 followers! I've been reading you, but never signed up;)

My choice would be Domino! I've ordered PDub's book and read/saw the Time Traveler's Wife. Would love to discuss with you!

My favorite dessert: brownies and vanilla ice cream.

  7. Yee Haw! 50 followers... congrats!! And of course we love you too :) Hmmm, tough choice here, but since I (really) dreamed last night that I stayed at P-Dub's Lodge and cooked... I have to pick Pioneer Woman Cooks. And, my fave dessert (ack, another tough choice!) -- ice cream. Thank you, Dawn! -tammy

  8. Wow how nice!!! I want pdub!!! My favorite dessert? is there one? Pumpkin cheescake ranks pretty high...I only have 10 cranes left=D

  9. Now you have 52 followers :) I was reading this post and before I scrolled down I thought ooh I would love to get the Time Traveler's wife and then voila it was one of the choices! However I think I would pick PW's cookbook since I plan on reading TTW on the airplane this week.

My favorite dessert is molten chocolate lava cakes, yummm

  10. Hey, thanks for dropping by my blog and for the sweet comment. I did get some rest, and I'm so glad we're all feeling better this weekend!

My favorite dessert is this chocolate custard pie I make. Oh my word, it's so good. I might just have to make it this weekend.

I would go for PW's cookbook in a heart beat, thanks for the great giveaway. I'm adding you to my blog roll, if you don't mind!

  11. OOOOH! I would love the Domino decorating book! So much fun! :)

As for my favorite dessert... macadamia nut creme brulee is my favorite! They have it at No Ka Oi in HB and its just so yummy! :)

  12. Since I follow the Pioneer Woman just like you do, I would have to take the pre-order version of her book. I follow most of her recipes anyway because I love butter! Nothing tastes better than butter!

My favorite dessert is Chocolate Cheesecake! It's the best of both worlds and reminds me I think I need to make a run to the Cheesecake factory this weekend.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  13. Oh my gosh... I would LOVE PWiddy's cookbook... I just love her to pieces. (well, who doesn't?) I can't wait to get it in my hands...

My favorite dessert. Hmmm. I have a few, I'm sorry, I love food. Can't be helped.

I like "Almost better than sex cake"
I like this peach cobbler/cheesecake/pie dessert that my mom makes.
I like white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies.
And I also like my own Sugar cookies with pink icing. They are to DIE for. They have a hint of almond flavoring in them, and I have never tasted better ones if I do say so myself.

I told you I liked food.

  14. Well, it is so hard to pick a favorite but I would have to go with the Apple Cheese Caramel Dessert that they used to have at Applebee's but have since stopped making it.

I know, I know it should be something better, but I do believe that absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I would love the Domino decorating book. I have already pre-ordered and paid for P-Dub and I own Time Travler's Wife.

I went to see the movie last night.
I loved it. I loved the book too. I have read the reviews, but ignored them. Most of them centered around the fact that they couldn't wrap thier minds around the whole concept, but I had already solved that problem long ago.

I check your site everyday, but since I blog on wordpress I can't "follow" you.

  15. I am so much like you with the books...I could live in a bookstore!!

I would love to win PW's cookbook. Anytime I find a good cookbook, I use it until it falls apart.

My favorite dessert is caramel pecan cheesecake. I can't help myself...I'm a sucker for something gooey, rich and good!!

  16. I read the pioneer woman's blog. I would love a chance at her cookbook. Thanks for the chance.

I absolutely love lemon ice cream. My grandmother makes a homemade ice cream called Lemon Velvet..

    ReplyDelete
  17. Eek! What a fun giveaway! I've been giddy over the Domino book since I saw your review on it a few posts back.

And my favorite dessert is cupcakes. And Japanese-style strawberry shortcake. And panna cotta. And white chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. And the chewy chocolate cookies from the Torrance Bakery (you HAVE to try them). Am I disqualified for naming every dessert in the world?

  18. Hey, great giveaway! Lucky me! I found you in time to get in on the action!

My fave dessert is anything snickerdoodle-y unless it's DRY! :( (Yea, like my cake!)

I'd like to win P-Dub's cookbook as I don't think I'd buy it otherwise.

Btw, I'm reading and lovin' The Time Travelor's Wife! Did you see the movie? I want to. I'm thinking maybe tonight. I would love to hear your thoughts on both! :)

  19. OMG Girl I already love your blog, but this giveaway, YAY! I was scrolling through and I see, The Time Traveler's Wife. I've been wanting to see the movie, but I like to always read the book first. So that'd be my pick :-)

As for my favorite dessert is pretty random if you haven't tried it. I love rainbow chip frosting. It's totally a ten year old's treat, but I crave it sometimes. I love the frosting on cake, cupcakes, or just with a spoon! Hehehe. :-)

  20. I've so enjoyed your blog since the beginning! Thanks for the opportunity to win something--how very generous of you---hmmmm,I think I'll say P-Dub's cookbook---you are right, I was going to buy it anyway.

My favorite dessert? REALLY, only ONE? Right now, cupcakes---ask me tomorrow, it may be something else!

    ReplyDelete
  21. YAY you're doing a giveaway!! How fun! GASP! My book choice is Pioneer Woman Cooks! I'm so so so excited to get my hands on that little book.
And my favorite dessert is...oh dear. This is tough. Cheesecake? Cupcakes. No. Yes. Cupcakes.

I would love to have Ree's Cookbook! Surely there are some good chocolate recipes in there!! :-)

  23. Without a question, hands down, no contest...I love peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, preferably Baskin Robbins. Actually, I'll inhale just about anything that is peanut butter and chocolate but the ice cream concoction is my all time favourite.

I have to say when I saw the Domino book of decorating in your previous post I did slightly drool on my keyboard. I need all the help I can get while I redo this old farmhouse.

    ~Andrea~

PS. I'll be borrowing my mom's copy of the T.T.W from my mom when she returns from Portugal. I would love to chat about the book!

  24. Oh my! I would SO LOVE to get my hands on Ree's cookbook! You are so awesome for giving this away!!! My favorite dessert is ice cream cake. I only get it 3 times a year: on my birthday, and on my two nephews' birthdays since they have celiacs and can't eat cake. I LOOOOOOVE ice cream cake!

  25. What excitement! I love contests!
(Do you know that years ago I won a trip to Hawaii!! All expenses paid!)

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get the Domino Book ... It looked so very chock-full of nifty ideas ... Now that we've completed the whole house ... I may have to start over again!

Favorite dessert ... hands down ... homemade German Chocolate Cake ... with the original coconut pecan icing! Mom made that for my BD for years! I haven't had it ... well ... for years! UMMMMMM I can almost taste it now!

    Good luck to everyone!

I am lucky enough to live close to St. Louis ... So I'm going to PW's book signing there with one of my DILs and her SIL.

  26. Sorry -- That last part doesn't sound quite right. I tapped the wrong place on my lap top!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would love the Domino book...I could totally get sucked into it for hours. And my favorite dessert...oh man, way too many! I'd probably go with my old standby, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is so great! I would love to have P-Dub's cookbook! And for my fav dessert... I don't discriminate with any desserts but I really love warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream.

    ReplyDelete
  29. PW's cook book of course!
favorite dessert! Anything chocolate, well it has to be good chocolate I am a bit of a chocolate snob! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. What a fun contest! And boy, this is hard. I'd LOVE P-dub's book but I know I'll buy it. Nevertheless, it would be great. But I'd also like The Time Traveler's Wife. Hmmmm. Guess, I'd have to go with PW. You, Dandy, ARE really dandy. What a sweetie you are. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not to be a whiner, but favorite dessert? I mean, really, that's darn near impossible! I'm afraid this will be boring, but if I really had to pick only one dessert to be stranded on an island with (you see what you've reduced me to in order to pick a fave?!) it would be ice cream. You can't really go wrong with ice cream, you can add all sorts of goodies to it, and it always calls to me from dessert menus.

As for which book, I'm going to have to say the Domino book. I've been in the process of re-painting my bedroom for, ummm, well, a really long time now, and figure I can use all the help I can get when it comes to decorating.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 1. Either PW Cooks or Domino decorates.
    2. Any dessert that doesn't make me fat and taste good would be my vote for now - got some pounds to drop.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1. Time Traveler's Wife
    2. Cheesecake I LOVE it! Gosh, I want some right now...

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Congrats on hitting 50 followers (even briefly)!

I LOOOOOOVED the Time Traveler's Wife. I ended up reading it on the night train to Prague, bawling my eyes out. Wow.

Hmm, tough choice. I might cave in and buy PW's cookbook anyway, so I would choose the Domino book.

And my favorite dessert is my mom's peach pie. Yum. A million times yum.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love Tiramisu and would love a copy of Pioneer Woman's new book- I am crazy for her site- just nuts! Thanks so much!

  36. oh my gosh! when i saw this giveaway i thought "ooooo i hope she has time travellers wife as an option" and BAM!!!!! you do!! haha! okay so i guess that explains which book i'd love. and dessert? i'm a big dessert person... im a big food person in general.. but lets see... tiramisu, cheesecake (oreo cheesecake to be specific), ferrero rocher/nutella/hazelnut/hedgehog gelato, apple crumble, ahhhh too many more to mention !hehe!

  37. I'd love a chance to win P-Dub's cookbook, please, and my favourite dessert is huckleberry pie.

  38. Hi! I am dying for P-dubs cookbook. I have a cookbook collection. Seriously. I should do a post on it sometime. My fav dessert? I have to pick just one? Ok. Hot apple crisp with melty vanilla ice cream on it. And, it has to be made with half the apples and twice the crisp. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Pioneer Woman - all the way!

It's funny, I always play around in the kitchen, making up new desserts. But when it comes to my favorites, it always comes back to my grandmother's vanilla pudding recipe or my mom's sugar cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Damn girl, nothing like a contest to boost your comment load. ;) Of course I'll add myself to the mix by saying Domino (because you *know* I already pre-ordered P-dub's book) and some lemon squares.

    Hint, hint. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have to include two favorite desserts (you're lucky I narrowed it down to two). My favorite summertime dessert is a black-and-white frappe (I live on Cape Cod, and if you say "milkshake" here, you get milk shaken up with ice. Yuck. If you want an actual "milkshake" you have to order a frappe.) Anyway, what's better than a chocolate-vanilla milkshake on the beach in the summer? And my favorite wintertime dessert is bread pudding with warm butter rum sauce. I would probably like it in the summer too, but I refuse to cook it in the summer because it requires several hours in a hot oven and I don't have air conditioning.

And I would choose the cook book. No, the Time Traveler's Wife. No, seriously, the cook book. May I just not choose unless I actually win? Thanks :~)
